House of Hammers brings the streets into Sydney’s nightlife for one massive night of BMX and good times. All in the name of showcasing the best street riding ever seen on these shores in what will be a truly unique event….
The night is being launched off the back of our hugely successful Slay the Rail event thats blown up in Melbourne over the last three years. We were always pushed for space at Slay the Rail, and with the Sydney BMX scene crying out for a similar event, it was only time until we found a bigger venue capable of holding a bigger night in Australia’s biggest city.
The Factory Theatre’s bigger capacity allows us not only a bigger rider list, but a bigger set up that includes a longer hand rail and two ledges all leading to a 4 foot quarter pipe. This quarter will facilitate both tricks and allow for enough speed for riders to head back up the rail and ledge doubling the action. Of course we’ll fit more crew in to watch as well.
House of Hammers is a head to head elimination event, where riders will be scored on their use of the rail and ledges by three judges who will make a snap decision at the end of every two rider jam. One rider advances, one rider is knocked out. Should there be a split decision, a ‘one lap, no crap’ ride off will take place. Riders are eliminated until we have two riders who will decide their fate with a five minute final. The winner claiming the House of Hammers title and $1500. The runner up taking home $500.
We will be sending out invites around Australia and the world to ensure we have the cream of BMX street talent on show for the night. Once the riding is done, the party will begin with music from the Hot Damn DJ’s plus some serious Mexican food from the crew at CantinaMobil.
All this and more will be taking place at the Factory Theatre, 105 Victoria Road, Marrickville in Sydney’s inner west on Saturday the 6th of October.
